My computer was always popping up with registry errors and I couldnt get rid of them. Regtask did the job for me and took less then 5 minutes to speed up my computer.

Samantha J.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my computer started to experience random freezes, I just used Regtask and now it works normally again.

David G.

My computer is 5 years old and runs extremely slow now. I was a bit sceptical about using Regtask, but just decided to give it a shot in the end and it worked out fantastically for me.

One such solution would be to run a ‘registry scan' of your computer. This can point to where your problem lies, but more problems can arise when you use some registry scans (often free registry scans) that may house malicious software within a download or program when you bump into them on the web; you shouldn't use this method unless you know that the program is safe, you have the software already on your computer or you have used the program before an you know that it is reliable.

A free registry scan can often lead to you not getting the result that you need and an offer to load up a malicious version of AVG anti-virus software containing all manners of ‘Trojans' for example; so just be aware if you do choose this method.

More Info Regarding File Extension Unknown

Sometimes you might be able to find the software you need to open a file by looking at the actual file database with notepad. When prompted by the associate this message in Windows, try opening the file with notepad (remembering not to permanently associate the file in question) and take a look at the file notes. This data is often found but may require you to do some further investigations in search engines to actually find the program that opens the file.

When looking in notepad one common place to look is the program ID; a company may place the name of the program within the ID, and so begins your journey into the realm of Google to find the program that opens the file. Also take a look to see if you can find an .EXE listed within the data, this can also prove useful if you cannot find a name in the program ID.

There is also the possibility that somewhere else in the massive world of the internet, that someone else has had the same problem. If you just do a general search with your file name and error message you might find that particular someone who has had an answer in places such as forums or other message boards. Thus your problem may be remedied by someone else having already got an answer or solution to your problem.

This is probably the easiest fix, as more often than not you will find that a technical advisor or someone else in the know has posted various offers of support or solutions which are only a click away.

There are also programs that may be able to identify the offending file for you and offer up a possible solution. TriID can be downloaded free or used live online and may be able to point you to a compatible file extension or alternative solution. If you upload the file online the program will search its database for any associated extensions within the server. It is probably a great place to start if you want to narrow down a search for a missing file extension. You can find ‘TriID Online' with a simple search on Google.

You could also post the problem in a technical forum yourself if all else fails; you may get an offer of support quite quickly. Remember to check that the forum has a good amount of use by its users, as sometimes you can find a forum has become obsolete and nobody is moderating or using the facility anymore.

A good technical support forum is probably the best place to start if you are a newbie to computers and or software, files and programs. It is where you will find the people in the know who have dealt with a lot of these issues themselves in the past. So if in doubt do not be afraid to ask somebody.

It would also be nice of you to offer up any findings that remedy your problem on your own webpage's or in the forums; as you could be helping someone out in the future and it is always good to have a more modern posting that could appear in the search engines for other users in your situation to find.
